Maintenance Technician (Manufacturing)

Job Type: Full Time - 1st shift, occasional Saturdays, overtime as needed

Description: Maintenance and repair of production machinery and supporting systems. Building maintenance and repair including but not limited to plumbing, electrical (high & low voltage), carpentry, and fabrication.

Travel: Occasional overnight travel (less than 5%)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair failed production machinery and supporting systems (hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical) with minimal downtime and high accuracy.
  • Work closely with maintenance supervisor and other employees to ensure assigned jobs are completed thoroughly and correctly.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production machinery and building equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Visually inspect and repair building structures and systems.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment for themselves and all other employees.
  • Follow all safety policies and work instructions set by management.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • No immediate personnel under direct supervision.
  • May occasionally have a helper, in which case is under supervision.
Requirements/Qualifications:

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a metals manufacturing environment within the following areas:

  • Plumbing, Electrical (high/low voltage, A/C, D/C), Hydraulics and Pneumatics
  • Ability to read/interpret schematics and prints
  • Induction heating equipment
  • Cooling towers, closed loop cooling systems
  • HVAC with EPA "Universal" certification a plus
  • Knowledge of FANUC CNC controls
  • Basic understanding of PLC logic for diagnostics
  • Fabrication/welding skills
  • CNC Lathes/Mills (Okuma-Howa, Muratec, Doosan, Mazak, Haas, Mori-Seki and Okamoto)
  • Basic fabrication, carpentry & plumbing skills
  • Forklift Certification
  • Ability to use calipers & micrometers
Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of technical/vocational training in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and plumbing systems.
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Mathematical Skills:
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability & statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk/stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb; balance or smell.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The work environment is usually loud and requires the employee to work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, around fumes or airborne particles and in outdoor weather conditions.
  • There is also a risk or shock as well as vibrations.
Protective Clothing/Equipment Required:
  • Safety glasses, steel toe boots with metatarsal guards and hearing protection.
  • Other personal protective equipment may include items such as gloves, respirators and/or fire retardant clothing.
